Animated series The Undervale from Rick and Morty writer is coming to Netflix

Netflix is working on a new animated series from the writer of Rick and Morty: The Undervale.
The streamer has ordered The Undervale, an animated adult comedy series from Matt Roller, who has worked on series like Archer and Rick and Morty. The series is produced by a group that includes Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon.

The series follows a single mother of two, who struggles to run a haunted hotel with the help of her estranged brother, who is now one of the ghosts and thinks the other ghosts have some good ideas.

Roller, who created the series, most recently served as co-executive producer on Harmon's Fox series Krapopolis and has also worked on series such as Mr. Mayor and The Goldbergs (2013). He will serve as showrunner.

He will also produce alongside Harmon, Chris McKenna and Steve Levy. Erica Hayes will be the supervisor.

The Undervale is the streamer's latest animated series. It comes after the long-running series Big Mouth was renewed for an eighth and final season, set to air in 2025. Spin-off Human Resources was recently cancelled. It also has Love, Death & Robots, which was renewed for a fourth season and Blue Eye Samurai, which was renewed for a second season.

The streamer also launched Good Times last month and the second half of Mulligan earlier this month.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Netflix and an amazingly talented cast and crew to bring to life the stories of the dead, the evil, and the struggling hospitality workers at the Undervale Hotel,” said Roller.

“The Undervale is wildly inventive and I’m very grateful to Matt, Chris, Dan and their team for bringing their talents to Netflix,” said Billy Wee, Netflix Director of Adult Animation. “They are phenomenal collaborators and I can’t wait for fans all over the world to experience this hilarious show.”
