NBC picks up Suits: L.A. and Grosse Pointe Garden Society as a series and shares first photos

NBC has shot two excellent series pilots: Suits: L.A., starring Stephen Amell, and Grosse Pointe Garden Society.
However, it is not yet known whether both series will premiere in the 2024-25 season. NBC already has four new series planned for next season: the dramas Brilliant Minds and The Hunting Party — which, like Grosse Pointe Garden Society, was created as a writers' committee in February 2023 — and the comedy series St. Denis Medical and the Reba McEntire-led Happy's Place .

Along with the series that have been picked up, NBC has released first images for Suits: L.A. (photo) and Grosse Pointe Garden Society. You can view them below.

As reported last month, both pilots had been received well and looked good for an order.

With a globally recognizable title thanks to the recent Netflix success of Suits, spin-off Suits: L.A. became a strong proposition from the moment it was announced. It comes from Suits creator Aaron Korsh, has a proven television star in Stephen Amell, and is said to carry the signature humor of the original series.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society also comes from established creators – Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs of Good Girls fame. In a sign of confidence, the project's producer, NBC sister company Universal Television, recently signed new multi-year deals with both.

Suits: L.A. is not a reboot or revival of the original USA Network series, but rather a new chapter in the vein of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and NCIS franchises with new characters in a new location.

The series centers on Ted Black (Amell), a former federal prosecutor from New York who has reinvented himself by representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His company is at a crisis point and to survive he must embrace a role he has despised his entire career.

Ted is surrounded by an amazing group of characters who test their loyalty to him and each other while they can't help but have their personal and professional lives intertwine. This all happens as events from years ago slowly unravel, forcing Ted to leave everything and everyone he loved behind him.

In addition to Amell, the pilot's cast also includes Bryan Greenberg, Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis and Troy Winbush. John Amos, Victoria Justice and Kevin Weisman guest star.

Korsh produces alongside David Bartis and Doug Liman under their Hypnotic production company and Gene Klein, who served with him as executive producers of the original series. Victoria Mahoney directed and produced the pilot. UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society follows four members of a suburban garden club - Birdie (Melissa Fumero), Alice (AnnaSophia Robb), Brett (Ben Rappaport) and Catherine (Aja Naomi King) - all from different walks of life, who become entangled in murder and vices as they struggle to prosper in their conventional lives.

The NBC drama's pilot comes from Jenna Bans, Bill Krebs and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Maggie Kiley directs and produces with Bans through her Minnesota Logging Co, Krebs and Casey Kyber. The Grosse Pointe Garden Society pilot also stars Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis and Felix Avitia.
