The book series - nine in total - is set in the coastal town of Thunder Point, a place full of charm and mystery. When newcomer Hank Cooper comes to the town of Thunder Point to attend the funeral of an old friend, he is surprised to learn that he has been bequeathed a beachfront property that has become the center of a town conflict.
Cooper is soon confronted with the fate of a community and a lot of unanswered questions. Never settled in one place, Cooper is drawn to both the city and Sarah Dupre, a woman as complicated as she is beautiful.
This is the third Carr product that Roth (pictured, right) has edited through her company Reel World Management, which she runs with Christopher E. Perry. Roth is the creator, showrunner, executive producer and head writer of Sullivan's Crossing, which she co-created with CTV and Fremantle as a straight-to-series order. The series premiered as the No. 1 Canadian drama and became one of CW's most-watched series in the US. Season two is currently airing on The CW and season three is in production.
Roth is also executive producer of the Netflix series Virgin River, the seventh season of which was recently announced. It is now the longest-running original scripted series and the longest-running English-language drama series in Netflix history.
“Thunder Point has drama, mystery, and romance, all theingredients you need to successfully build a global hit series,” said Roth. “It is certain to appeal to fans of both Sullivan’s Crossing and Virgin River but this time the story is told from a male perspective. We are beyond excited to be continuing our incredibly successful run with best-selling author Robyn Carr.”
“I’m so thrilled that Roma will be producing Thunder Point,” adds Carr. “She did such an exceptional job with her previous adaptations of my work, and I just can’t wait to see who she casts for this fan favorite small-town series. Roma is a gifted artist whose creative eye is a joy for viewers! Brava, Roma.”
Carr is a New York Times bestselling author of more than sixty novels. Her new women's fiction novel, The Friendship Club, was released in January 2024. Her books are published by Harlequin, a division of HarperCollins, the second largest publisher in the world.
