FX has mafia series in development about Sammy the Bull

Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire) returns to the mob drama arena with a project about Salvatore 'Sammy the Bull' Gravano. The drama, which has landed in a competing deal at FX, will chronicle the life of former mobster Gravano (pictured, inset), who held a top position in the Gambino crime family and later testified against crime family boss John Gotti.



Winter (pictured, center), creator, writer and executive producer of Boardwalk Empire and writer/executive producer of The Sopranos , will write and Antoine Fuqua (pictured, left), executive producer of Mayor of Kingstown , will direct the potential series.

The series will be produced by Gravano and hails from FX Productions and Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment.

It is described as an epic crime series about the most powerful gangster in history to ever provide evidence and an in-depth look at the inner workings of the mob.

Winter and Fuqua will produce alongside Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment, rights holders Gravano and Ana Castañeda, Billy Malone, Nick Pileggi, J.J. Sacha, Scott Greenberg and Rick Yorn. Kevin Marco is creative director at Kapital.
