Billed as an explosive two-day event, The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson premieres Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 at 8 p.m.

Lifetime has released a trailer for the documentary, which features her three sisters - Denise, Dominique and Tanya Brown - speaking about O.J.'s ex-wife Nicole. Simpson who was found murdered outside her Brentwood home in 1994. Nicole and Simpson were married for seven years and shared two children, Sydney and Justin. Simpson was accused and acquitted of her and Ron Goldman's murders.

The fallen American football star was later found liable for both their deaths in a civil lawsuit in 1997. Simpson died April 10 of prostate cancer.

As previously reported, despite the timing of the documentary's announcement so soon after Simpson's death, The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson has been in the works for over a year.

The documentary “provides an opportunity for Nicole’s own narrative and voice to be heard in one of the most notorious crimes and trials in history,” says Lifetime of the project, which features 50 participants of those who knew Nicole the best and unprecedented access to exclusive home videos and interviews.

The network says the docuseries will reveal “shocking new details in the tragic story” and will “shed new light” on her life and death, as Nicole’s sisters and closest friends “come forward for the first time to share her truth.”

“What happened to our sister Nicole should never have happened to her or to any other woman,” say the Brown sisters in a statement. “Her life was stolen from her and while her abuser is finally gone, it doesn’t take away the anguish we feel or the pain of her children who lost their mother. We hope that by sharing Nicole’s story, it will help others recognize the signs and get the help they need and her legacy will continue to live on.”

In the trailer, her sisters grow emotional as they recall how “she always thought he was going to hurt her” and that “the one thing I could not protect her from was the monster she was married to.” The first look mentions Nicole keeping a diary, described as “essentially a list of abuse by Simpson,” and zeroes in on concern over the children being left in Simpson’s care following their mother’s death.

The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson is produced by Bunim/Murray Productions for Lifetime and comes from the teams behind several of Lifetime's critically acclaimed documentaries, starring Jesse Daniels, Melissa Moore, Rit Saraswat, Brie Miranda Bryant, Kim Chessler and Julie Pizzi executive producers.

The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson is part of Lifetime's Stop Violence Against Women initiative and in partnership with the National Domestic Abuse Hotline.
