In Mr. Throwback, a down-and-out memorabilia dealer (Pally, pictured) seeks redemption by reuniting with his sixth-grade teammate, NBA great Steph Curry.
“I was excited to step into the world of scripted comedy with Mr. Throwback, a story with love for family and friends at its center,” said Curry, who also executive produces, in a statement. “I’m looking forward to viewers getting to see me play a version of myself no one has ever seen before and hope they feel connected to the characters and the dilemmas they face throughout the series.”
He added, “I am honored to have joined Adam, Ego, Ayden and the producing team of David Caspe, Matthew Libman, Daniel Libman and David Wain to create this series along with Erick Peyton steering the ship at Unanimous Media.”
Ego Nwodim and Ayden Mayeri also star in Mr. Throwback. Tracy Letts, Layla Scalisi, Tien Tran and Rich Sommer have recurring roles.
Caspe co-writes and produces with the Libmans, Pally, Curry and Erick Peyton of Unanimous. David Wain also produces and directs.
Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, produces in association with Curry's Unanimous Media. The project is the first to come after Curry and his Unanimous Media entered into a global talent partnership with NBCUniversal in 2021, including first-look development deals with Universal Studio Group for scripted and unscripted television projects and DreamWorks Animation for children's and family content.
