Actress Linda van Dyck (75) passed away

Actress Linda van Dyck has died in her hometown of Amsterdam at the age of 75. Her family said this to the ANP news agency.
Van Dyck appeared in dozens of successful theater plays, films and series during her life. She was known for roles in Twee Vorstinnen en een Vorst (1981), Ciske de Rat (1983) and Daens (1992).

Linda de Hartogh, as Van Dyck (photo) was actually called, was the daughter of actors Leo de Hartogh and Teddy Schaank. The late actor Ko van Dijk was her stepfather, with whom she first appeared on stage in 1960.

Initially, Van Dyck did not want to act at all. She sang in a band and wrote lyrics for Ramses Shaffy and Boudewijn de Groot, among others. In 1969 she left for Sweden, where she lived with director Lasse Hallström (The Cider House Rules, Chocolat) for five years.

Film director Jean van de Velde calls Van Dyck the "finest, most difficult actress you can imagine". Van Dyck and Van de Velde not only knew each other through work, but were also good friends.

"She was a unique actress because she took control completely into her own hands. She had an eye for a good theater piece and knew her audience well. I don't know many actors who take matters into their own hands like that."

Van Dyck played television roles in Unit 13 and Baantjer, among others. In 2015 she appeared in the Dutch drama series Zwarte Tulp in which she played the role of Marieke Vonk.

At the beginning of 2021, Van Dyck suffered a cerebral infarction, which left her partially paralyzed. Van Dyck had a son, presenter Jamie Trenité.
