The story, the streamer promises, will be told by some of her "closest contacts, many speaking for the first time." Using Vanity Fair's Scene Stealer article as source material, the documentary promises to reveal how Finch, a "master of manipulation, saved her best fiction for her own life story and exploited the empathy of those around her." It's also about how Finch leaned on trauma survivor Jennifer Beyer and used her "deepest secrets" to her advantage.
Finch, who is best known for Silent All These Years, a 2019 episode about a rape victim that also featured Finch in a non-speaking role as a nurse (pictured), left the series in 2022 after revelations about her behavior behind the scenes became known. Among the allegations were how she lied about her medical history, such as how she was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, how she lost a kidney and part of her leg but was subsequently misdiagnosed, and how she had suffered verbal and sexual abuse endured by a male director while writing for The Vampire Diaries.
At the time, the Los Angeles law firm Lavely & Singer, which represented Finch, said that "Ms. Finch will not disclose her private health matters."
Anatomy of Lies is directed and produced by Evgenia Peretz and David Schisgall.
