The first season of Nine Perfect Strangers consisted of eight episodes and was released in August and September of 2021.
Nine Perfect Strangers is a drama series created by David E. Kelley and John Henry Butterworth and based on the novel by Liane Moriarty. The first season stars Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale, Regina Hall, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Asher Keddie, Grace Van Patten, Tiffany Boone and Manny Jacinto.
The story takes place in a spa that promises healing and transformation. Nine stressed-out city dwellers try to embark on a path to a better way of life. During this ten-day retreat, the resort's director, Masha Dmitrichenko (Kidman), watches over them, a woman on a mission to revive their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine "perfect" strangers have no idea what's in store for them.
The series was announced as a limited series, but was changed to an ongoing series when it became Hulu's most-watched original series on its premiere day, breaking records for five viewing days.
The second season is expected to follow the basic format of season one with a new group of stressed-out people visiting another resort in the Swiss Alps run by Kidman's character. Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Maisie Richardson-Sellers (DC's Legends of Tomorrow), Liv Ullmann, Dolly de Leon and Aras Aydin are reportedly signed on for season two, with other roles yet to be filled.
It is not yet known when season two of Nine Perfect Strangers will start.
