Erlig Riiser is a lieutenant in the Norwegian Special Forces stationed in Afghanistan. During its peacekeeping mission, his battalion mainly oversees general security in the region. However, that also means that at times he and his colleagues have to make a difficult decision in seconds when they think there is danger. After a tip comes in that there will be a bomb attack on the local market, Erlig and his buddies take up position in strategic places on the rooftops around the market. When he thinks he sees the perpetrator of the suicide attack, Erlig pulls the trigger and shoots him dead. During the tumult and the panic that ensues, Erlig stops a woman who tries to walk to the suicide from the crowd. It turns out to be the wife of a powerful man from the region, Sharif Samani, who, during her struggle with Erlig, loses her headscarf and because of this, according to local belief, has disgraced her husband. It is the start of a series of developments in which more than once a surprise comes up and it soon becomes apparent that some stakeholders have more than one agenda, although it is not clear at the beginning who they are. A strong story , convincing actors, camera work that can be seen, sometimes hard images that lean very close to reality and one of the most beautiful opening songs of this year make this series one that you must see.

What a great series. I was already a fan of everything from Scandinavia, but this is really a winner. I really cannot understand the low rating. The series is realistic and acting of a very high level. The series provides a contemporary look at the state of affairs in 2016 in a time of war (Afghanistan Taliban IS). If you compare a series like this with what comes from the US, this is a gem. I do not want to reveal anything about the content of the series, which would be at the expense of the tension. I have been deeply impressed by this series that will keep me busy for a few more days. A "must see" as far as I am concerned.
