I can already picture it through the large glass front of his imposing office on the 70th floor of Rockefeller Center in New York. The NBC boss hangs slumped in a chocolate brown Chesterfield, holding the A4 sheet in his hand that a sassy secretary left on his desk with the rest of the mail a moment earlier. The ratings. Slowly his head turns redder and redder, and the veins in his neck fill with blood so quickly that it looks like a small snake is trying to slip from behind the collar of his blouse under his skin. It's again to cry with NBC lightweights like About A Boy, Believe, Crisis, Ironside and The Night Shift. With a deft movement, which you would not expect from him due to his Burgundian posture, he throws himself out of his chair and bursts into the work floor screaming: “WHO DOESN'T WANT TO UHN HOOMLLY! A HOOMLENT OF OUWR OOWN. MEEK MIE UHN HOMELENT AND MEEK IT KWIK! ”. With cold sweat in their buttocks, the writers immediately start tapping and the producers start looking for a piece of Nevada that, with a little art and flying work, can go through for the desert of Mali. A year later there is American Odyssey and that has not even turned out to be such a bad series. Odelle has left her family behind in America for a while, because she has to go on a military mission in Mali with her super secret Task Force. There she stumbles into the shelter of some terrorist over some documents implying that an American multinational is in cahoots with the biggest scum on the planet. Smooth! She just manages to store things on a sticky note, before an even more secretive team of mercenaries suddenly appears on the scene and confiscates all their discoveries. If Odelle survives a targeted air raid on her posse and the mercenaries continue to chase her, Odelle realizes that she has something valuable in her hands that must end up in the right hands at all costs. Well, if that's not exciting. I also know that this is not Homeland. The story is much too one-dimensional; the actors must have skills, but acting is not directly one of them and it is a sequence of Ja, tuuuurlijk's and That seems stiff to me. American Odyssey compares to Homeland as Grey's Anatomy to ER Platter, easier and lighter, but somehow I was still happy every time it was Monday and the TV could be turned on. Don't judge me.
Hi gumstarr. Why don't you write reviews ,? you write really well, very expressive and .. with humor .. Read your reactions with pleasure. And I really like the series, I haven't watched homeland any further, - (I'm not going to do it either, don't like that man at all). So I can't compare it with that. Very small beep with strike back. But it probably won't make it to the second season, unfortunately.
Thanks. Always nice to start the Sunday with some feathers up your ass. Everything I write is on www.gumstarr.com, so you can always take a look there too. Or not. That is of course also possible. We live in a free world. The choice is yours.
This is purely my own opinion but I am sorry that the series has ended. You shouldn't compare it to anything else. Oh yeah, and I'm only going to end 9 now.
I thought leading actors were good acting in Marcella, so I decided to start this series, I wonder what may still happen, after all, only until episode 6.
