The new docu-series will premiere with two episodes on HBO Max on Thursday, January 18. Two new episodes of the eight-part season will be released every week in the run-up to the season finale on February 8.
In the first episode, Momoa travels past men who form a special and close-knit community: vintage motorcycle enthusiasts. It is a passion he shares with this group of builders and collectors. Momoa has always had a great fondness for motorcycles from the 1920s and 1930s, when Harley Davidsons in particular made waves on the race circuits and during the popular hill climbs - a sport of riding as fast as possible up a sand mountain.
The rare engines that are left from that time are safely stored in museums or in collectors' collections and that is a thorn in Momoa's side. He would prefer to ride it to get the hundred-year-old feeling that the riders had back then. “I want to see these engines roaring. I want to ride them the way they were meant to ride.”
To make that goal a reality, he has an idea that is as bright as it is crazy: buy an original collector's item, disassemble it and copy every part to turn it into a new 'old' engine. Through his network of motorcycle enthusiasts, he manages to find a seller who is willing to sell his rare DAH from the 1930s. Friendly mechanics take it apart piece by piece and have the parts scanned with a 3D scanner to recreate three identical DAHs.
It is a time-consuming and expensive project, but when the cloned engines are ready after sixteen months, Jason does not know what he sees. Now he is finally able to do a real hill climb together with his motorcycle friends as if it were 1930. It is an emotional conclusion to a special journey through the history of motorcycle racing. And there will be more special trips from this wanderluster.
