Netflix revealed more about the series' renewal and return in a press release:

"Live from the stage in Huntington Beach, CA at Netflix's Poguelandia, a fan-fueled, immersive music event, Outer Banks cast members Chase Stokes (John B.), Madelyn Cline (Sarah), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Jonathan Daviss (Pope) ), Carlacia Grant (Cleo), Rudy Pankow (JJ), Austin North (Topper) and Drew Starkey (Rafe) surprised fans by announcing a season four renewal on the eve of the debut of the third season of the hit series.

Fans were also treated to a special nine-minute preview of season three, which premieres worldwide only on Netflix this Thursday, February 23.

Co-Creators/Showrunners/Executive Producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke, who return for the fourth season, said, "Watching Poguelandia come to life has been nothing short of spectacular. Details and additional information about the fourth season will be shared at a later date.

The successful series held the #1 spot on Netflix's Top 10 English TV list worldwide for the four weeks following the launch of the second season on July 30, 2021 and in the Top 10 for six weeks; it reached the Top 10 in 74 countries.

ABOUT THE THIRD SEASON:

Synopsis: After losing the gold and fleeing the Outer Banks, season three finds the Pogues washed up on a deserted island that, for a brief moment, seems like an idyllic home. Officially named 'Poguelandia', the island's newest residents spend their days fishing, swimming and enjoying the carefree lifestyle of their temporary home.

But things quickly go wrong for John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, JJ and Cleo as they once again find themselves in a race for the treasure, literally running for their lives. They're broke and far from home, they can't trust anyone, Ward and Rafe are out for revenge, and there's a ruthless Caribbean Don who'll stop at nothing to find the bounty. Was the treasure ever within their reach? Or was it all a trap to stop them once and for all? Either way, it's the Pogues against the world - and the only way out is together.
