Prime Video cancels Outer Range after two seasons

Prime Video has chosen not to renew the science fiction/neo-western drama Outer Range for a third season.
The news comes nearly two months after the seven-episode second season of showrunner Charles Murray's series was released on May 16.

It follows solid early U.S. ratings, with the release of the new season pushing Outer Range to #3 on the Nielsen Streaming Originals chart for the week of May 20 with 476M hours watched and #8 for the week of May 27 with 314M.

Outer Range

Outer Range follows rancher Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin) as he fights for his land and family after discovering an unfathomable phenomenon on the edge of the Wyoming wilderness - a dark void.

The mystery surrounding the void on the ranch's western pasture deepens in season two, as Royal and his wife Cecelia (Lili Taylor) struggle to keep their family together in the wake of their granddaughter's disappearance.

In addition to Brolin and Taylor, Imogen Poots, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie and Will Patton also starred. Christian James, Megan West, Daniel Abeles, Kimberly Guerrero and Monette Moio had recurring roles in season two.

Outer Range is produced by Charles Murray, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Ernest McNealey, Brolin, Tony Krantz, Heather Rae and Jon Paré. Brolin made his directorial debut in the penultimate episode of season two.
