For Jamie, his mother Ellen MacKenzie will be played by Harriet Slater (pictured, left), of Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman's Butler fame, and his father Brian Fraser will be brought to life by Jamie Roy (pictured, second from left) in his series debut. For Claire, her parents Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp are played by We Hunt Together actress Hermione Corfield (photo, second from right) and Jeremy Irvine (photo, right), known from Treadstone, respectively.

The Starz series, which shoots in Scotland, revolves around these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie's parents in the Scottish Highlands in the early 1700s and Claire's parents in England during World War I.

“We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples. The origins of their relationships explore universal themes that transcend time and we’re so excited for fans to discover and fall in love with these characters and their love stories the way they have with Claire and Jamie,” says Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner, executive producer and writer on both series.

In addition to Roberts, Ronald D. Moore will also executive produce, along with Maril Davis. Moore and Davis developed Outlander for TV, under their production banner Tall Ship Productions. Story Mining & Supply Company will also executive produce and Diana Gabaldon, the author behind the book series that inspired the hit Starz series, will serve as consulting producer. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
