Set in 18th century Scotland, we follow the love story of Ellen MacKenzie (played by Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), who will later become Jamie's parents. At the same time, a storyline takes place in Britain during the First World War, in which we meet Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), Claire's future parents.
Production on the second season has already begun. Showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts said the cast and crew have been incredibly dedicated to this prequel. He said that, like Jamie and Claire, the hope is that audiences will fall in love with these new couples.
The series stars a new generation of actors, including Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine. The series also stars Tony Curran, Rory Alexander, Séamus McLean Ross, Sam Retford and Conor MacNeill.
As for the original Outlander series, it has been confirmed that the eighth season will be the last, although Starz has not yet announced a release date. These final episodes will bring Jamie and Claire’s epic story to a close.
The first season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood premieres on Starz on Friday, August 8.
