Over The Garden Wall - Season 1
Looking for some creepy but cute vibes for Halloween? This show is a good recommendation.
Over the Garden Wall is a 2014 animated TV show from Cartoon Network. It is about two brothers, Wirt and Greg, who end up in a magical land and need to find their way back home together. The two are very different. Wirt is the more serious older brother, trying to do what he is supposed to. Greg is the younger brother without a care in the world, often wandering off. Their opposite personalities mean that the two often get in trouble on their way home.
As every episode is only eleven minutes long, the total of ten episodes takes about two hours, a small time investment. You can therefore easily watch this show in one go, as I did with my friends. Not every episode is equally strong, especially some of the initial ones are not as good. The creators do really stick the landing; the final two episodes are great and really tie everything nicely together. Things start to make a lot more sense (although this is perhaps not the show to watch if you are looking for ‘sense’), as everything comes together.
So: if you are looking for something fun with the right vibe to watch the coming days, light up some candles, put them in a pumpkin, and start this show!
PS. The trailer spoils a bit of the story, but less than what you might expect watching it.

On their journey, they meet many friends and foes, such as a talking bluebird called Beatrice, a frog, a woodsman, pumpkin people, a talking horse, you name it. These characters are all silly, cute, and often have a slightly darker edge. While the series is sometimes a bit dark, it is clearly aimed at children as well as adults, and it is fun for both. Very young children might find it too scary, however. The general vibe is mostly silliness, making it a perfect for Halloween for those who do not want to get scared too much by the more frightening shows that are out there. The humor is similarly silly, and you might find yourself unexpectedly laughing. Overall, while there are some moments that might briefly be nightmare material, this scariness is quickly undone by the absurdism of the whole ordeal the characters find themselves in. For adults, there is both the surface silliness and absurdism, as well as some larger underlying messages.A little bit crazy and silly, but Halloween themed
