NBC renews Parks and Recreation, but cancels four series

The American network NBC has renewed the series Parks and Recreation for a sixth season. That there will come a new season is remotely unexpected. The fifth season scored lower ratings than the previous seasons. Still NBC has decided to renew the series. The sixth season will consist out of 22 episodes. The series joins earlier renewed series Parenthood, Grimm, Revolution, Chicago Fire and Law & Order: SVU.

Despite of the good news for Parks and Recreation the nework also brought bad news. Four series got cancelled: 1600 Penn, Guys With Kids, Up All Night and Whitney.

There is no surprise for Up All Night. Lead actress Christina Applegate left the series in February because she didn't agree with the changes in the series. Go on without the lead actress clearly wasn't an option.

Newcomers 1600 and Guys With Kids ratings were too low. 1600 Penn's pilot reached seven million viewers but the remaining episodes didn't even come close. Guys With Kids' ratings were also falling quickly.
