Rebecca Ferguson cast opposite Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders film

Dune and Mission: Impossible actress Rebecca Ferguson has joined the cast of Netflix's upcoming Peaky Blinders film.
Ferguson is the first big name opposite the previously announced Cillian Murphy. Details about Ferguson's role (photo below) are still being kept secret.

As reported last month, Netflix has greenlighted a Peaky Blinders film that will see Oscar winner Murphy return to the iconic role of Tommy Shelby, leader of the Birmingham gangster family of the same name.

Tom Harper directs from a script by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. The producers are Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy and Guy Heeley. Executive producers are Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason. The feature film is made in collaboration with BBC Film.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but Knight said in April that the film is set during World War II. Production is expected to begin this year.

Ferguson recently reprized her role as Lady Jessica in Denis Villenueve's $712 million-grossing Dune: Part Two. She is also known for starring opposite Tom Cruise in three Mission: Impossible films, including Dead Reckoning - Part One, and recently wrapped production on MGM Studios' sci-fi thriller Mercy starring Chris Pratt.

The busy and in-demand Ferguson has also been confirmed to star in Kathryn Bigelow's upcoming yet-untitled feature film for Netflix.

On television, Ferguson will star in Apple TV+'s drama Silo, which will soon announce the start date for season two. Ferguson also starred in the BBC's historical drama series The White Princess.
