Penny Dreadful is an American horror series which is aired on Showtime. The serie will premiere on May 11, 2014.

In PENNY DREADFUL, some of literature's most famously terrifying characters - including Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula - become embroiled in Victorian London. The series weaves together these classic horror origin stories as the characters grapple with their monstrous alienation. This project marks Logan and Mendes' second major collaboration, following Skyfall, their recent critically-acclaimed and box office record-breaking James Bond film, which Mendes directed and Logan co-wrote; and their first ever collaboration for television. The project will be produced by Mendes' production company Neal Street Productions.

What a negative response!? Did you miss Eva Green or something? She puts on an Emmy-worthy acting performance here. Breathtaking and very intense. Look through the first 2 episodes and a fantastic series is created.

At the end of last year there was suddenly that horrific Penny Dreadful teaser. An ode to the 19th century magazine of the same name full of horror stories that sent many toddlers to bed with wet pants. A gathering place for your worst fears. Fans of obscure things like American Horror Story, Hemlock Grove and Hannibal are putting this newcomer worldwide with branded marker on their agenda, because this could well be it. The stories of Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and Dracula in Victorian England mashed together into one bite-sized chunk… What's not to like?! Well, you could not like that the makers, despite a very thick production and an ex-James Bond and Josh Hartnett in the cast, did not (really) succeed in making a series where you watch one episode after another. want to devour like Gordon in a fraternity full of willing choirboys. Putting together the stories we all grew up with is no greater than the sum of its parts. In fact, it mainly leaves the viewer with the question of what they actually want to say. Summarizing exactly what you start when you swallow it into your computer is therefore no mean feat. At least something about an explorer who has lost his daughter and a group of mysterious figures gathers around him to track her down. If you're still reeling from Regan d'r “Fuck me, fuck me” in The Exorcist, I'd just leave this one for what it is. I would.
