Reddick will guest star as Zeus, while Stephens will guest star as Poseidon. The duo appear in the series alongside Walker Scobell as Percy and Aryan Simhadri as Grover and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth.
Other cast members include Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally and Timm Sharp, as well as Dior Goodjohn, Olivea Morton, Charlie Bushnell, Adam Copeland, Suzanne Cryer, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Timothy Omundsen and Jay Duplass.
Reddick (pictured) is best known for starring in the HBO series The Wire and his role as Phillip Broyles in the FOX science fiction series Fringe. His most recent roles include the series Resident Evil (2022) on Netflix and seven seasons in the Amazon police drama Bosch.
His Percy Jackson character Zeus is described as 'The almighty god of the sky and leader of Mount Olympus, Zeus is impetuous and suspicious. He has promised to go to war if his stolen thunderbolt is not returned.”
Stephens (pictured below) recently starred in series such as the second season of Alex Rider on Prime Video, the reboot of Lost in Space (2018) on Netflix and the Starz historical drama Black Sails.
Poseidon is the god of the sea and Percy's father. According to his official character description, “Though seemingly absent from Percy's life, many of Poseidon's qualities live in Percy; stubbornness, impulsiveness and loyalty. Although he will be gone for the rest of Percy's life, his deep feelings for his son (and Percy's mother, Sally) are obvious.”
Percy Jackson and the Olympians, based on Rick Riordan's book series of the same name, follows the twelve-year-old demigod as he is just coming to terms with his new godly powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master thunderbolt, according to the storyline. With the help of his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.
The Disney Branded Television series is currently in production in Vancouver. Riordan and Jon Steinberg (See) are writing the pilot with James Bobin (The Mysterious Benedict Society) directing. Steinberg and his producing partner Dan Shotz (Black Sails) oversee the series and serve as executive producers alongside Bobin, Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, Jim Rowe, Anders Engström, Jet Wilkinson, and Gotham Group's Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, and D.J. Goldberg. 20th Television is the studio.
