Production started on Poker Face season two

Natasha Lyonne is back behind the wheel as her Peacock series Poker Face begins production on season two.

Rian Johnson celebrated the first day of filming of the second season last week by sharing a photo of the series' clapperboard, which listed Lyonne as director for episode two.

“Day one season two,” Johnson wrote on his Instagram Story.

Inspired by Columbo's reverse detective format and described by Johnson as a "howcatchem" (as opposed to the "whodunit" structure of Knives Out and Glass Onion), Poker Face follows Vegas casino worker and human bullshit detector Charlie Cale (Lyonne) as she is on the run from the mafia and solves a series of murders along the way.

The star-studded series featured guest stars such as Adrien Brody, Ron Perlman, Chloë Sevigny, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stephanie Hsu, Clea DuVall, Dascha Polanco, Hong Chau, Megan Suri, Danielle Macdonald, Judith Light, Ellen Barkin, Tim Meadows, Jameela Jamil, Charles Melton, Rowan Blanchard and Rhea Perlman.

Lyonne, who also serves as a writer and executive producer on the series, previously directed the first season episode The Orpheus Syndrome, which starred Nick Nolte, Luis Guzmán and Cherry Jones. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe and Emmy Award for Best Actress.

Johnson revealed what's in store for Poker Face during Deadline's TV Contender event last April and that he hopes to continue doing the series for "as long as possible."

“We want to keep doing it and I feel like it is very much built so that there is an overarching story but it’s kind of similar to the story of whether Sam is going to get home on Quantum Leap,” he explained. “It kind of doesn’t matter really, it’s just an engine to be able to keep her on the road and keep her moving and keep doing these little mysteries and having exciting people in them. Our goal is to just keep doing that as long as we can.”
