Rachel Brosnahan to star in Presumed Innocent season two

Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) will lead season two of Apple TV+'s legal drama Presumed Innocent.
Rachel Brosnahan, best known for her award-winning role as Midge Maisel in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has been cast as the lead actress in the second season of the legal anthology series Presumed Innocent. The second season is based on the novel Dissection of a Murder, the debut of thriller writer Jo Murray. Although specific details about the story are still being kept under wraps, this season promises an intriguing mix of legal intrigue, personal dramas and moral dilemmas.

The first season of Presumed Innocent, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, was based on Scott Turow’s 1987 novel of the same name. The story revolved around a murder within the Chicago District Attorney’s Office, in which one of their own prosecutors was identified as a suspect. Gyllenhaal played the role of Rusty Sabich, who was previously played by Harrison Ford in the 1990 film adaptation.

The series explores themes of obsession, sexuality, power, political pressure and the resilience of love, as the main characters try to balance their professional lives with personal crises.

The addition of Brosnahan marks a new phase for the series. The actress rose to fame with her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, for which she received an Emmy and multiple Golden Globe Awards. She also previously starred in the Netflix series House of Cards (2013), for which she was also nominated for an Emmy, and in the WGN America historical drama Manhattan.

With her involvement as both an actress and producer, Brosnahan underscores her growing influence in the television world. Her participation promises a fresh and powerful new angle in the second season of this exciting anthology series.
