Prodigal Son is een Amerikaanse misdaadserie van de zender FOX. De serie ging in première op 23 september 2019.
'Prodigal Son' volgt het karakter van Malcolm Bright, die het vermogen heeft om te weten hoe moordenaars denken, hoe hun geest werkt. Waarom? In de jaren '90 was zijn vader een van de slechtste - een beruchte seriemoordenaar die 'De chirurg' heette. Daarom is Bright de beste criminele psycholoog; moord is het familiebedrijf. Bright gebruikt zijn verwrongen genie om de NYPD te helpen misdaden op te lossen en moordenaars te stoppen. Ondertussen moet hij omgaan met zijn manipulatieve moeder, een vervelende normale zus en een moorddadige vader die nog steeds probeert zich te binden aan zijn verloren zoon en zijn eigen voortdurend evoluerende neurosen.

Finally a series that is exciting and unpredictable! What a great series!

The whole cast has to come in for a while, but after that it keeps getting better, I think this is one of those series that needs an episode or 6 to get going. Not necessarily groundbreaking and does not (yet) reach a series like Hannibal, for example, in terms of intensity, but it does look away. But I also like series like Criminal Minds and Mindhunter. Plus I'm curious about what Malcolm has hidden in that little head of his. So I'll keep looking

Very nice series. Great psychological game between father and son. The rest of the cast is great. Hopefully there will be another season as the ending of the series will leave you questioning. It would be a shame if they let it end with such an open ending.

In the beginning I had to get used to it, had the feeling that I didn't like it, but my wife thought it was something so I watched it. From episode 4 I started to like it and the thread of the story is getting more and more exciting. So I'm going to keep watching ... I just hope they don't work towards such a cliffhanger, for a possible 2nd season.

After the 1st 2 episodes I didn't like it and I wanted to stop. My wife wanted to look further, so I watched. Luckily it got interesting all of a sudden and we looked on to Episode 11, but then we both had had enough, suddenly everything became too much exaggerated. I thought the role of the mother and sister was really, really bad. Seen half, but we don't watch the second half anymore. Just a little too much American ...

Malcolm Bright is a very fascinating character to follow in this series. You keep wondering how his life story will continue. His family bond with his mother & sister, murderous father and colleagues makes his story truly fascinating. His character has many highlights: intelligent, arrogant, yet the weight of his family sins on his shoulders that cause him the necessary challenges. A strong character with a corner in the middle of fascinating police cases involving (serial) murderers where he finds his way as a profiler.

The first season is good and makes you curious. Season 2 is disappointing, really over the top. Almost more of a black comedy series. Bad role of the sister. The father is constant and gives it more drama. Sometimes it gets a bit vague and I flush it. I didn't have that with season 1. Shame...

The idea is ok ... execution poor. Don't find Tom Payne acting convincingly. And the father is annoying, a so-called complex serial killer but actually a childish dreamer. I watch 3 episodes and then I make a decision whether to continue watching. Now in episode 2 I still can't care ...

Quit after the pilot. Just like you, I would have expected more from it, but see this turn into a long-winded story. I normally think Martin Sheen, who plays the father, is a great actor, but he portrays his character very exaggerated.
