Reasonable Doubt renewed for second season; Morris Chestnut joins cast

Onyx Collective and Hulu's drama series Reasonable Doubt has been renewed for a second season. Morris Chestnut will be a regular cast member on the ABC Signature produced project.
From executive producers Raamla Mohamed, Kerry Washington and Larry Wilmore, Reasonable Doubt centers on high-ranking Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Jacqueline "Jax" Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi) as she deals with past trauma, a failed marriage, motherhood and a murder case as she tries to keep her life together.

Chestnut will play Corey Cash, a charming, media-savvy defense attorney who often represents the underdogs. When Jax enlists Corey to help with a new high-profile case, she quickly realizes he has more gloss than substance and threatens her standing at the firm.

Chestnut (pictured) is best known for his memorable roles in films such as Boyz n the Hood and especially The Best Man and its successful sequel, The Best Man Holiday. Most recently, Chestnut reprized his role as Lance Sullivan in the Peacock limited series The Best Man: The Final Chapters. Other television roles include in V (2009), American Horror Story, Nurse Jackie, Legends (2014), Rosewood, Goliath, The Enemy Within, The Resident, and Our Kind of People.

The series also stars McKinley Freeman, Tim Jo, Angela Grovey, Aderinsola Olabode and Thaddeus J. Mixson.

Reasonable Doubt is created, written and produced by Raamla Mohamed. Kerry Washington produces with Pilar Savone for Simpson Street and Larry Wilmore through Wilmore Films. Shawn Holley, Tamara Gregory and Jon Leshay are co-executive producers. The series comes from Onyx Collective and is produced by ABC Signature, part of Disney Television Studios.
