"It's going to happen," Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen said in a statement. "Thanks to the talent of the entire series team, we can all enjoy ten new episodes that once again raise the bar for comedy and animation. This season proves that the geniuses working on Rick and Morty are just getting started."
Season seven will be the first season without co-creator and voice actor Justin Roiland, who is no longer in business with Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of Adult Swim, after allegations of domestic violence. These allegations were dropped in January due to insufficient evidence.
The voice roles he performed, including the titular Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, would be recast, but no newcomers have been announced yet. At Comic-Con earlier this year, executive producer Steven Levy revealed that they were in the process of finding replacement(s) that would have the same sound as the original characters.
Rick and Morty return for their seventh season on Sunday, October 15. A note in the season seven press release reads, "Rick and Morty are back and sound more like themselves than ever! It's season seven and the possibilities are endless: What's up with Jerry? EVIL Summer?! And will they ever go back to high school?! Maybe not! But let's find out! There's probably less piss than last season. Rick and Morty, 100 years! Or at least until season 10!"
