Starz revealed more about the series' return in a press release:
"STARZ today announced that Run the World will bring audiences back to vibrant Harlem on Friday, May 26, as seen through the lives of three 30-year-old best friends. In addition, some first-time footage has been released that gives a sneak peek of what's going on in season two to come, focusing on the bonds of friendship and the power of Black sisterhood as the ladies fashionably navigate the ups and downs of love and careers in their pursuit of world domination.
The second season of the half-hour comedy series premieres at midnight on the STARZ app, all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms.
Amber Stevens West (The Carmichael Show), Bresha Webb (Marlon) and Corbin Reid (Valor (2017)) return to their roles as Whitney, Renee and Sondi, three best friends living and thriving in Harlem. Stephen Bishop (Imposters) and Tosin Morohunfola (Black Lightning) return in recurring roles. Erika Alexander (Wu-Tang: An American Saga), Nick Sagar (Queen of the South), Jay Walker (Grey's Anatomy), and Tonya Pinkins (Women of the Movement) return as guest stars.
Run the World chronicles the euphoric highs and heartbreaking lows that Whitney, Renee and Sondi must endure in their quest for world domination. Whitney must follow the path of self-discovery in order to thrive in her life with or without Ola, while Renee and Sondi must decide what they really want in life - both in love and in their careers. Whether reuniting with a former love, getting a taste of the millionaire's life or seeing their career take a radical new direction, these powerful black women, strengthened by their impenetrable friendship, will let nothing stand in their way.
STARZ previously announced that Tika Sumpter (Mixed-ish), Comedian CP (Love Life (2020)) and Isha Blaaker (The Flight Attendant) will join the second season in recurring roles, while Cree Summer (Better Things) and Ashley Blaine Featherson -Jenkins (Dear White People) will guest star.
Rachelle Williams-BenAry (Mixed-ish) joins season two as showrunner and executive producer. Yvette Lee Bowser and Leigh Davenport serve as executive producers.
