Seal Team - Complete series

Seal Team is a gem to me, especially in the raw way in which they have depicted the lives of the Seals and the depth they have given to the characters.
Special forces are often created to carry out the most difficult and sensitive missions. The Navy Seals fall within this category among the elite of the elite. A unit that is multidisciplinary deployable (SEa, Air, Land), operates in small teams and is deployed where larger army units cannot achieve anything.

In Seal Team we follow Jason Hayes played by David Boreanaz who is the team leader of Bravo Team, a team that, like Jason himself, has earned its spurs. The first season starts at the moment that the ambitious Clay Spenser (Max Thieriot) joins the team and tries to prove himself in order to find his place within the team.

The basis of the series is formed by the missions they have to carry out. Afghanistan, Korea, Russia, these are just a few of the countries they are sent to in order to accomplish the most diverse tasks. There is absolutely nothing to complain about the amount of action and the way in which this is portrayed.

But what I like about the series is that there is also more than enough attention paid to the other side of the coin. The team members are portrayed as the type of ‘rough diamond, soft core’ and when they are among themselves everyone tries to hide their emotions and problems and not let themselves be known. But in their lives outside the team everyone struggles with their own problems.

Seal Team is a gem to me, especially in the raw way in which they have depicted the lives of the Seals and the depth they have given to the characters.

The difficulty of combining a relationship and family life with such a job, post-traumatic stress disorder, the loss of comrades, the physical complaints, and the loss of comrades. These are just a few aspects that are brought forward in a clear and impressive way. In addition, it ensures that we, as viewers, feel more and more connected to the members of Bravo Team.

The political side of the story is also not neglected. From above, it is often politics that tries to interfere with how the Seals function and ambitious new leaders come along who try to make their mark in order to make a career. Because of all this, the way in which Seals are expected to behave and how they have to complete their missions changes and not everyone goes along with that easily.

Throughout the seasons, the team grows, but that certainly does not happen without trial and error. Where at the beginning of the series it still seems as if Bravo Team is the perfect team, it soon becomes apparent that sufficient cracks can also appear within such a team, if enough tension is put on it. And given the missions that must be carried out continuously and the personal demons that the members of Bravo Team fight, that tension is constantly present.

However, all of this also ensures that you see the brotherhood within Bravo Team grow. No matter how tough it gets, in the end - despite mutual irritations - they always go through fire for each other and never let each other down.

Seal Team is a gem to me and that is mainly due to the raw way in which they have depicted the life of the Seals and the depth they have given to the characters. Action lovers have enough to enjoy through the beautiful, realistic and sometimes intense images. However, life as a Seal is not presented as more beautiful than it is. Every member of the team sooner or later has to deal with the consequences of their work, has doubts about whether and how long they can continue to do this and struggles with that. The series also offers the opportunity for that. The actors and actresses know how to portray all of that in a perfect way.

In a way I find it a shame that Seal Team has come to an end. I would have liked it to continue for a while. But at the same time I have to admit that a lot of aspects surrounding Bravo Team have been given sufficient attention, that storylines were sufficiently developed and that the series has had a nice and satisfying ending.
