Beautiful series designed with love and detail. A lot of writers, TV stations, makers and so on can learn from this. The only downside is that there are only 3 episodes per season. (Luckily they last a long time) People go and watch this, highly recommended!

Watched Season 3 this year. I thought it far surpassed 1 and 2. The actors had grown into their roles, the scripts were twice as good, and I now understand why Benedict Cumberbatch is so popular, including among his fellow actors (who adore Sherlock Holmes). He HAS become Sherlock, you just can't think of Holmes after this third season without seeing Cumberbatch's mischievous head. Really great, fantastically good.

Many British series are top notch but Sherlock is the best I've seen so far, the role of Sherlock is just played perfectly, man, I love to see this man doing, absolute top actor. That Moriarty can do some of it too. 20 seasons can be made of me. Sherlock and Breaking Bad are, until now, the only series that can fascinate me for so long.

If you google [British detectives series], you get a list that you will never look away from your life. It's an understatement to say that the average Brit enjoys an hour of crime solving. Sherlock also fits effortlessly into the list of other superpowers in the genre; Luther, Whitechapel and Wallander (which is actually Swedish again). Sherlock's story is well known and the creators have managed to draw the characters into the 21st century in a very natural way. Actually no reason at all not to start watching tonight. Or you must have children who need to be read to. Or you are expected at the gym. Or you don't dare to go public with it, but you just don't know how the whole downloading works and the shops are already closed, so the DVD box can't be picked up. In that case, just watch it at a later time.
