New extended trailer released for FX's Shōgun

FX has unveiled a new extended trailer for Shōgun, the original series adaptation of James Clavell's bestseller.
The trailer was unveiled ahead of a 30-second commercial that the network aired during Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday.

The 10-part series premieres Tuesday, February 27 on Hulu in the US, on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ in all other territories. The premiere will feature the first two episodes, followed by a new episode every week. You can watch the new extended trailer at the bottom of this news item.

Shōgun

FX previously released the first trailer for Shōgun, the original adaptation of James Clavell's bestseller made for television by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks.

FX chief John Landgraf originally announced at the 2023 TCA that the series would premiere last year after filming wrapped in summer 2022.

Shogun is set in Japan in the year 1600, at the beginning of a centuries-long civil war. Producer Hiroyuki Sanada stars as Lord Yoshii Toranaga who fights for his life as his enemies in the Council of Regents unite against him. When a mysterious European ship is found in a nearby fishing village, the English pilot, John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis), comes up with secrets that could help Toranaga tilt the balance of power and reveal the formidable influence of Blackthorne's own enemies - the Jesuit priests and Portuguese merchants - to destroy.

The adventures of Toranaga and Blackthorne become inextricably linked to their translator, Toda Mariko (Anna Sawai), a mysterious Christian noblewoman and the last of a disgraced family. As she serves her lord in this fraught political landscape, Mariko must reconcile her newfound friendship with Blackthorne with her devotion to the faith that saved her and her duty to her late father.
