Medical drama series Skymed renewed for a third season

Paramount+ has ordered a third season of Canadian medical drama Skymed.

The series follows young doctors and pilots who fly air ambulances through the remote airspace of Northern Canada. Produced by Piazza Entertainment, production on the nine-episode third season begins on Monday, March 25 in Manitoba and Ontario.

The upcoming season will air exclusively on Paramount+ in the US and internationally outside Canada, and on CBC in Canada.

In addition, Aaron Ashmore, who portrays Wheezer, has been promoted to regular cast for season three, and Anthony Grant and Nicola Correia-Damude have been added to the cast in recurring roles.

Grant plays TJ, a cheerful, social pilot with whom you easily fall in love, but who secretly also carries heavy baggage with him. Correia-Damude plays Marianne, an attractive city person who struggles to fit in in the north, despite her good relationship with Chopper (Praneet Akilla).

The third season picks up after the season two finale, as mounting pressure within the close-knit Skymed team - and one member's shocking medical emergency - threatens to tear the group apart. Now, faced with more dangerous missions in the wilderness and a pair of newcomers arriving at the crew house to shake things up, the medical workers must rely on each other more than ever as they navigate heartbreaking rescues, new loves, and difficult goodbyes on the job. to experience.

Returning in season three are regular cast members Natasha Calis as Hayley, Morgan Holmstrom as Crystal, Praneet Akilla as Chopper, Mercedes Morris as Lexi, Thomas Elms as Nowak, Kheon Clarke as Tristan and Sydney Kuhne as Stef.

Recurring roles include 'Ace' Aason Nadjiwon as Bodie and Emilia McCarthy as Madison, with Braeden Clarke returning as a guest star in the role of Jeremy.

Skymed is produced by Piazza Entertainment in association with CBC and CBS Studios. The series was created by Julie Puckrin and inspired by her sister and brother-in-law, who met as air ambulance pilots.

Puckrin is also executive producer, along with Gillian Hormel and Vanessa Piazza. From Manitoba, Rhonda Baker and Carrie Wilkins are the producers. Outside of Canada, Skymed is distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Newcomer Grant previously appeared in Star Trek: Discovery from Paramount+ and The Horror of Dolores Roach from Prime Video.

Correia-Damude has a recurring role as Elena on Prime Video's The Boys and can be seen in Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent currently airing on Canadian channel CityTV.
