In an interview that x-on:APEntertainment published on Twitter, we see creator, writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk standing next to star actor Lee Jung-Jae (Seong Gi-hun/456). He said the following about the second season: "So there’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season," Hwang said in early November. "So I almost feel like you leave us no choice! But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen. So I will promise you this: Gi-hun will come back, and he will do something for the world."

Netflix hasn't confirmed the news just yet, but that will only be a matter of time. Previously, the streaming service revealed that the series was watched by 111 million households within the series' first 28 days of release. And with that statistic, the series has become the best-watched Original series. It would be weird if the streamer decided to leave it to just one season.
