The streamer also announced that Cillian O'Sullivan (pictured below) will join as a recurring guest star in the upcoming season, in the role of Dr. Roger Korby.
Korby, a character first introduced in Star Trek: The Original Series and portrayed by Michael Strong, is a renowned archaeologist and scientist known for his groundbreaking work in the field of medical archaeology.
The team also revealed today that Scotty, the iconic Star Trek character known as the chief engineer aboard the starship USS Enterprise, will be a regular in season three. In addition, according to executive producer Akiva Goldsman, the season will feature "a Hollywood murder mystery rooted in Star Trek reality." The news about Star Trek: Strange New Worlds came from Paramount+'s Star Trek universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend. Among those presenting the series on the panel were cast members Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck, along with executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is based on Captain Christopher Pike's (Anson Mount) years at the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise and follows Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock (Peck), Number One (Romijn) and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise in the years before Captain Kirk boards the starship, as they explore new worlds across the galaxy. The series will return for a third season in 2025 and has already been renewed for a fourth.
Others in the cast include Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun and Martin Quinn, along with special guest stars Paul Wesley and Carol Kane.
The series is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Executive producers of the series are Kurtzman, Goldsman, Jenny Lumet, Myers, Aaron Baiers, Dana Horgan, Davy Perez, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.
