Disney+ says the Star Wars series has had the biggest opening for a series on the streamer so far this year, with the first episode racking up 11.1 million views - that's the equivalent of that many full viewings of the 42 minutes long delivery - worldwide in five days. That equates to approximately 426.2 million minutes or 7.77 million hours of viewing time.
The Acolyte slightly lagged the previous Star Wars series premiere on Disney+, with Ahsoka drawing 14 million views in its first five days in August 2023. It's comparable to the debut of Percy Jackson and the Olympians in December, which aired 13, 3 million views over six days – which equates to about the same daily average (2.22 million views) as The Acolyte's over five days.
Disney+ previously noted that The Acolyte's opening day had amassed 4.8 million views.
Created by Leslye Headland, The Acolyte is set in the Star Wars era of the High Republic and follows the investigation into a crime wave that will pit a Jedi master against a figure from his past.
The series stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Carrie-Anne Moss, Joonas Suotamo, Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson and Dean-Charles Chapman.
