In the season three finale, Homelander killed an adversary who attacked his son Ryan at a political rally, much to the excitement of the crowd.
Now Homelander will stand trial for the crime in the fourth season of The Boys as teased by a new video released by Vought International.
The Boys' Twitter account also responded to the video:

In the in-universe video, Vought CEO Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) announces that Homelander will face trial for the murder of the protester at the political rally in the coming months.
The Boys' Twitter account responded to the video, joking that Homelander was off-screen, ready to shoot his signature laser eyeballs through Ashley's skull if she didn't say what he wants.
The new teaser shows that upcoming season four episodes will follow directly on from The Boys' third season as Homelander goes on trial for the murder of the political protester at the rally. However, the Vought CEO is trying to reframe Homelander's actions as "an act of heroism" that saved his son from a "Starlight-loving thug" and "is now being branded murder." Homelander has Vought's full support with Ashley as his puppet CEO, so the developments don't affect his status as leader of the Seven.
Despite the outcome of the upcoming court case, Homelander's story in season four of The Boys is probably his darkest twist yet. The Vought poster boy previously tried to uphold a reputation as a righteous Supe in public and only showed his violent tendencies in private. But after killing the Starlight supporter and seeing the enthusiastic response from Ryan and the mob, Homelander realizes that violence won't stop his supporters from loving him. This puts Homelander's story in The Boys season four as the darkest and most violent yet.
