The Decameron gets premiere date and teaser trailer from Netflix

Ready for a wine-soaked sex romance in the Italian countryside?

Netflix has set aside Thursday, July 25, for the premiere of The Decameron, Netflix's soapy period dramedy from Teenage Bounty Hunters creator Kathleen Jordan and Orange Is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan.

The streamer also released a teaser trailer for the series that you can watch at the bottom of this news item.

The Decameron

Tony Hale, Zosia Mamet and Saoirse-Monica Jackson star in the dark comedy series, set in the year 1348, when the Black Death hits the city of Florence hard.

A handful of nobles and their servants retreat to a large villa to wait out the plague with a lavish holiday. But as the social rules wear down, a struggle for survival ensues, brought to life by a cast of characters both devious and outrageous.

The cast also includes Amar Chadha-Patel, Leila Farzad, Lou Gala, Karan Gill, Douggie McMeekin, Jessica Plummer and Tanya Reynolds.

The series was created by Jordan, who also serves as showrunner. She produces alongside Kohan, Blake McCormick and Tara Herrmann for Tilted Productions. Michael Uppendahl directs four of the eight episodes.
