The Gilded Age is expanding its cast with the addition of eight new actors.

Uggams takes on the role of Mrs. Ernestine Brown, a friend of Elizabeth Kirkland and a member of Newport’s elite black community. Hamilton plays Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, the famous black feminist who inspires Peggy (Denée Benton) to take up her cause despite the dissenting opinions of those around her.

Other new cast members include Andrea Martin (pictured below) as Madame Dashkova, a psychic who claims to be able to communicate with the dead; Paul Alexander Nolan as Alfred Merrick, a dashing, wealthy New York businessman; Hattie Morahan as Lady Sarah Vere, sister of the Duke of Buckingham (Ben Lamb); and Jessica Frances Dukes as Athena Trumbo, Dorothy’s (Audra McDonald) beloved first cousin and part of Newport’s elite enclave of black residents.
