No sixth season for The Last Kingdom

There will not be a sixth season of The Last Kingdom. Netflix has announced that they've decided to conclude the series with its upcoming fifth season. Last year, The Last Kingdom was renewed with its fifth season. Turns out, that this renewal would be the last for the historical adventure series. Netflix has announced that they will not release a sixth season. And with that decision, The Last Kingdom will end with its fifth. Currently, Netflix hasn't yet released a premiere date for the upcoming fifth season. Production on the final season has already begun.


In 2015, The Last Kingdom simultaneously premiered on BBC Two and BBC America. Since the third season in 2018, Netflix has acquired complete distribution rights. These rights don't apply to all regions and thus there was a bit of confusion regarding the release date of the fourth season in the Benelux region.
