Production on The Last of Us season two is set to begin once strikes are over

Fans of The Last of Us can rest easy. Neil Druckmann, co-creator of the series, says season two is all mapped out and that "they'll be ready as soon as the strikes are over."

The Last of Us was renewed in January shortly after the adaptation of the popular PlayStation video game premiered and quickly became a pop culture phenomenon. On May 1, when the writers' strike began and script work was suspended, the new season had already taken shape, The Last of Us co-creator/executive producer Craig Mazin told Deadline.

Mazin gave an interview following the series' big screening on the day of the Emmy nominations, confirming the new writers who had joined him and fellow game co-creator/executive producer Druckmann for season two. attached. "We've actually come quite far, we've been doing a good job," Mazin said.

Druckmann, developer of the viral video game and co-creator of the series with Mazin, weighed in on the highly anticipated third video game in The Last of Us series. As revealed in March, season two will take place in Vancouver, as a major part of the story in the video game The Last Of Us Part II, which spawns the next season, takes place in the Pacific Northwest.

The Last of Us garnered 24 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, becoming the first live-action adaptation of a video game to do so.
