Now that the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are over, production on several renewed series is in full swing. Sources say production on the second seasons of Criminal Minds: Evolution and The Last of Us will begin in January.
With Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster, Criminal Minds: Evolution follows the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit. The Paramount+ series is a sequel to CBS' long-running series.
Brewster revealed on X that production on the sequel series will resume in January. She wrote: "We'll start filming in mid-January at breakneck speed to bring the episodes to you as quickly as possible! We all hope you'll watch and love them!"
The first season of the revival consisted of ten episodes and ended in February. The series was already renewed for a second season in January.
As for The Last of Us, production on the second season of the HBO series was halted in May due to industry strikes, but it is now reported that production on season two will resume on January 7. The episodes are not expected to air until 2025.
The HBO series, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, is inspired by the Naughty Dog video game of the same name. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the series follows what's left of the world's population twenty years after a virus turned most of them into zombie-like creatures. The series was renewed for a second season in January after just two episodes.
Start dates for both series will be announced at a later date.
