Schitt's Creek actress Catherine O' Hara appears in the second season of The Last of Us

Catherine O'Hara, known for her role as Moira Rose in Schitt's Creek, has been added to the cast of The Last of Us season two.

HBO is keeping mum about its casting for now, saying only that O'Hara will guest star in an "undisclosed role."

O'Hara (pictured) is the first guest actor to be announced after HBO made several major additions to the cast for the second season of the post-apocalyptic drama based on the video game of the same name developed by Naughty Dog for PlayStation.

The actress is also known for her role in the first two Home Alone films and has guest-starred on series including HBO's Six Feet Under, HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm with Larry David, NBC's 30 Rock, ABC's Modern Family and Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events .

HBO recently cast Kaitlyn Dever (Dopesick) as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina and Young Mazino (Beef) as Jesse.

The series has become somewhat of a showcase for guest actors, as the first season featured guests including Nick Offerman, Storm Reid and Murray Bartlett. The first season dominated the guest acting categories at the 75th Emmy Awards with seven nominations. Reid and Offerman took home the trophies.

Guest starring roles in The Last of Us season two are in high demand, meaning more big names are likely to join the cast in the coming weeks.

The story of The Last of Us takes place twenty years after modern civilization was destroyed. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a fourteen-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job quickly becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they both cross the US and rely on each other for survival.

The cast of season one, which was shot in Calgary, Alberta, also included Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, Nico Parker as Sarah, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill, Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen, Storm Reid as Riley, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon, Elaine Miles as Florence, Ashley Johnson as Anna and Troy Baker as James.

The Last of Us was written and produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. The series is co-produced with Sony Pictures Television and is also produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O'Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan and Evan Wells.
