The third season will see the return of Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson and Yaya DaCosta. Season three’s recurring/guest cast includes Neve Campbell, Merrin Dungey, Elliott Gould, Devon Graye, Michael Irby, Maisie Klompus, Allyn Moriyon, Wolé Parks, John Pirruccello, Fiona Rene, Philip Anthony-Rodriguez, Jon Tenney, and Krista Warner.
The 10-episode third season is based on the fifth book in Michael Connelly’s The Lincoln Lawyer series, The Gods of Guilt.
“While season three of The Lincoln Lawyer is based on Michael Connelly’s novel The Gods of Guilt, we decided that a fun (and poignant) way to come into the season would be via a flashback sequence that gave us some insight into how Mickey Haller became Mickey Haller — not just the brilliant criminal defense lawyer but the husband, the father, and the man that he would come to be,” co-showrunners and executive producers Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez said in a statement earlier this year.
"There is no comparable flashback in the book, so we devised something that would also serve as a fitting introduction to the story of the season, both on a plot level but also emotionally. These images, of a young Mickey finishing up surfing before a life-changing day at work, as well as cuddling on the couch with his wife Maggie after putting their young daughter Hayley to bed, are from a pair of these flashback scenes that bookend the first episode and propel us into the rest of season three," they added.
The Lincoln Lawyer centers on Mickey Haller (Garcia-Rulfo), an idealist who runs his law practice out of the backseat of his Lincoln, taking on cases big and small in the sprawling city of Los Angeles.
The series was created for television by David E. Kelley and developed by Humphrey. Connelly serves as executive producer and writer on the series. Ross Fineman and Kelley also serve as executive producers. The series is produced by A+E Studios, with Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson serving as executive producers.
