The Night Agent - Season 1

In the basement of the White House is a room with a telephone. In The Night Agent, Peter guards this phone, which never actually rings. Until the phone suddenly does ring and Peter ends up in a difficult situation.
Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso, The Big C) is an FBI agent. That sounds very exciting in theory, but in practice it is often quite boring. Peter's job at the White House is going through files. His main job is manning a telephone that is only used in emergencies. Those cases are rare, but when this phone suddenly does ring, Peter comes into contact with a young woman. This woman, Rose (Luciane Buchanan, The New Legends of Monkey), needs immediate help and Peter does everything he can to get her to safety.

Unfortunately for the two, it doesn't stop there. Rose and Peter find themselves in a complicated situation where it's not clear who to trust. They are pursued by multiple parties, requiring constant vigilance. Due to multiple attempts on their lives, they notice that they cannot trust anyone except each other.

After multiple attempts on their lives, they find out that they can't trust anyone except each other.

The Night Agent is an exciting political thriller full of action and plot twists. It is not easy to find out who can and who cannot be trusted. Take, for example, Peter's boss, White House Chief of Staff Diane Farr (Hong Chau, Homecoming). Does she have Peter's best interests at heart or does she have a double agenda? And what role does Vice President Ashley Redfield (Christopher Shyer, V (2009)) play? Can the FBI boss, Hawkins (Robert Patrick, 1923) be trusted or does he have bad intentions? Every time you think you know it, a situation follows that makes you doubt.

The series remains exciting and intriguing until the last episode, there is a lot of action and the actors play their roles very well. Not surprising, because many of the actors already have a decent track record. The Night Agent reminds me of a more mature version of The Recruit, another Netflix Original series. This series also resembles 24 or Bodyguard.

The first season of The Night Agent consists of 10 episodes and can be seen on Netflix. It has already been announced that The Night Agent will get a second season. Needless to say, I am super stoked!

About the writer, Sharon Vermeesch

Sharon Vermeesch
"Be careful not to get square eyes," Sharon has been told since childhood. Watching television shows for hours on end is nothing new to her. Sharon can completely lose herself in good storylines, she cries along with her favorite characters and dreams completely new episodes at night. Also, she knows all the latest news about actors, castings, cancellations / renewals and gossip ? After studying Journalism, Sharon chose the financially stable corporate job, but after craving some more creativity, she handed in her notice. 2023 has started for her without a job, but with a lot of dreams and time to figure out her next step. Oh and she is also writing a tvshow. You can watch this on one of the major streaming services next year (she hopes).
