The Romeo Section is a Canadian dramaseries which is aired on CBC. The series premiered on October 14, 2015.

Set in Vancouver, THE ROMEO SECTION is an hour-long serialized espionage drama following spymaster Professor Wolfgang McGee, an academic who secretly manages a roster of espionage assets. These assets, referred to as Romeo or Juliet spies, are informants engaged in intimate long or short term relations with state intelligence targets. Wolfgang is a semi-retired Romeo operator, having worked his way up from youth in an unnamed and officially deniable “service” under the umbrella of Canada’s Intelligence Community.

Espionage, murder, triads, drugs, sex, intrigue, in short, everything is in this series that announces itself as a spy drama in which spy master Professor Wolfgang McGee secretly recruits people with the intention that they provide him with information about all kinds of things. These informants, appropriately given Romeo or Juliet (01.02 etc ...) as their code name, are supposed to establish confidential relationships with the persons from whom they should steal information. As a viewer, you know this yourself after having seen 2 episodes only if, like me, you have read the foreword on the CBC Canada website. Because, however promising they may announce this espionage drama, as a viewer after the first hour and a half you have almost no idea what exactly this is all about. Nor will you get an idea of whether you are looking at one story or 27 different stories that have been mixed up. This is mainly due to the makers switching too much between all Romeos and Juliets. One moment you are in Vancouver and a little later you are presented with a sex scene that presumably takes place in Hong Kong. Nothing explicit, not of that, but without you having any idea who those 2 may be, it will then be switched to another location after less than a minute. Any form of tension or action is hard to find and it is not very exciting either. The first murder in the series is discovered when someone returns a borrowed car to Romeo (01 I suspect) with the message "Something is rattling in your trunk". You also do not find out who the corpse in the suitcase may be or how and why he / she was killed, the victim is a little too well packed for that and nothing else is said about it. You can assume that the perpetrator will suffer the same fate some time later when he leaves a house with the same Romeo, after which in the next scene the Romeo in question sees the car of the first for sale. I give myself one more episode to find some improvement but honestly don't have a good eye on it.
