Ahead of the season six finale, ABC has renewed the drama, produced by Lionsgate Television, for a seventh season.
The renewal comes after strong ratings for season six. The Alexi Hawley-created crime drama kicked off its sixth season with the most-watched episode in nearly six years, with 11.92 million viewers across all platforms after 35 days of viewing. That's up 14% from season five's average and marks the series' strongest MP35 figure since October 23, 2018, according to the network and Nielsen.
Among adults 18-49, the series premiere scored a 2.90 – a 27% increase over the previous season's MP +35 average (2.29). This is the strongest MP +35 rating for the popular drama since the first season (2.91 rating) on November 13, 2018. On a linear level, the series had its best L+35 performance in total viewers (7.23 million) since March 28 2023 (7.26 million).
Fillion stars as John Nolan, along with Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper, Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones as Sergeant Wade Grey, Melissa O'Neil as Lucy Chen, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford, Jenna Dewan as Bailey Nune, Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers, Tru Valentino as Aaron Thorsen and Lisseth Chavez as Celina Juarez.
Hawley produces with Mark Gordon, Fillion, Michelle Chapman, Brynn Malone, Bill Norcross and Jon Steinberg. Lionsgate Television is the primary studio and international distributor of The Rookie, a co-production with ABC Signature, part of Disney Television Studios.
The Rookie airs on Tuesdays at 9pm on ABC and streams on Hulu the next day.
