Next month, the British crime series is going to release on Netflix in various regions. Tom Shankland has directed two episodes.The Serpent is based on a true story and revolves around charlatan Charles Sobhraj and his girlfriend Marie-Andrée Leclerc. In the seventies, they were suspected of dozens of murders on young western travellers in India, Thailand and Nepal. Sobhraj miraculously manages to remain out of the hands of the authorities. The Dutch Herman Knippenberg works at the Dutch embassy in Bangkok. He digs into the case and tries to get 'The Serpent' behind bars.
The series was originally made for BBC One. On the 2nd of April, The Serpent will also be made available on Netflix in various countries. The series consists of eight episodes. Tom Shankland (The Missing) has directed the first two episodes. Down below, you can watch the trailer.
