British true crime series The Sixth Commandment will soon be shown on NPO

The four-part series shows how teacher Peter Farquhar (Timothy Spall) was manipulated and murdered by student Ben Field (Éanna Hardwicke).

The four-part crime drama The Sixth Commandment can be seen on NPO next month: the first two episodes will debut on Saturday, June 1, and the last two episodes will follow on Saturday, June 8.

The fact-based series revolves around the (aftermath of the) murder of 69-year-old teacher Peter Farquhar (Timothy Spall) in 2015, committed by 28-year-old student and church warden Ben Field (Éanna Hardwicke).

The Sixth Commandment

We see, among other things, how Farquhar and his very religious neighbor Ann Moore-Martin (Anne Reid) were deviously manipulated by Field. Supporting roles include Annabel Scholey as Ann-Marie Blake, Sheila Hancock as Elizabeth Zetti, Ben Bailey Smith as Simon Blake, Conor MacNeill as Martyn Smith, Adrian Rawlins as Ian Farquhar, Amanda Root as Sue Farquhar, Jonathan Aris as DCI Mark Glover.

The script for the series was written by Sarah Phelps, who is best known for her Agatha Christie film adaptations for the BBC (such as Ordeal by Innocence and The Pale Horse) and wrote the screenplay for the fact-based A Very British Scandal. The four episodes were directed by Saul Dibb (The Salisbury Poisonings).
