The Split

The Split is an English drama series from the BBC. Two seasons of 6 episodes each have been made so far and the last episode of the second season aired this week. It is not yet known whether there will be a third season. Central to The Split is the Defoe family, whose members are divorce lawyers. The episodes form a continuous story in which, in addition to working as a lawyer, the personal concerns of mother Ruth and her daughters Hannah, Nina and Rose are extensively discussed. The cast is very good with Nicola Walker (my favorite TV actress), Annabal Scholey, Fiona Button, Stephen Mangan, Dutch actor Barry Atsma and Deborah Findlay. I think this is one of the better series the BBC has made. The story is more than good and was written by Abi Morgan who was also responsible for highly regarded series such as The Hour and River. The acting is great and that doesn't surprise me with such a great cast. The whole is beautifully filmed and provided with beautiful music.

A great series. Season three is also really great. What actors, the pleasure of playing like this is evident. The English humor combined with drama is so well done. Too bad there. I don't think there will be a fourth season.
