Sky and Peacock reveal teaser for The Tattooist of Auschwitz

Sky and Peacock have unveiled a teaser trailer for The Tattooist of Auschwitz.
The six-part limited drama series is based on the international bestseller by Heather Morris, which is inspired by the true story of Lali and Gita Sokolov, who met while imprisoned in Auschwitz during World War II.

It stars Harvey Keitel, Melanie Lynskey, Jonah Hauer-King and Anna Próchniak.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz

The series kicks off on Thursday, May 2, a few months after Jonathan Glazer's Auschwitz film Zone of Interest, which is receiving a lot of Oscar attention.

This teaser shows an older Lali (Keitel) recounting his experiences in Auschwitz to Morris (Lynskey). We also see the younger Lali (Hauer-King) when he meets Gita (Próchniak) and falls in love with her. Shortly after his arrival in Auschwitz, Lali becomes one of the Tätowierer (tattoo artists), tasked with applying identification numbers to the arms of fellow prisoners. One day he meets Gita while tattooing her prisoner number on her arm, leading to a love that defies the horrors around them.

The teaser features an original score by multi-Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer and Kara Talve, who also composed the soundtrack for the series.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is directed by Tali Shalom-Ezer and is produced by Claire Mundell through Synchronicity Films in association with Sky Studios and All3Media International. The series is a co-production for Sky and Peacock. Jacquelin Perske is executive producer and head writer for The Tattooist of Auschwitz alongside episode writers Evan Placey and Gabbie Asher. Serena Thompson is executive producer for Sky Studios.

NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution and All3Media International will jointly handle international sales. Australia's Stan takes original rights to the series, SkyShowtime takes rights to Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden.
