Dan Stevens scores leading role in AMC's The Terror: Devil in Silver

Dan Stevens has been tapped as lead actor and executive producer for the third season of horror anthology series The Terror: Devil in Silver.

The Terror: Devil in Silver was written by Chris Cantwell and author Victor LaValle, on whose novel the season is based. The series tells the story of Pepper (Stevens, pictured below), a working-class man who, through a combination of bad luck and a bad mood, is wrongly admitted to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital - an institution full of people society would rather forget.

There he must compete against patients who oppose him, doctors who hide gruesome secrets and perhaps even the devil himself. As Pepper navigates a hellish landscape where nothing is as it seems, he discovers that the only path to freedom is to confront the entity that thrives on suffering within the walls of New Hyde - but in doing so he may just prove that the worst demons of all live within himself.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of The Terror: Devil in Silver,” Stevens said. “This series is a dark symphony of psychological horror and gripping drama, set to rock the audience. Victor LaValle, Christopher Cantwell, and this incredible team have crafted a unique and twisted dance of devils and shadows. I look forward to delivering something epic that will echo through the halls like an iron bell.”

Cantwell and LaValle produce the six-part The Terror: Devil in Silver starring Ridley Scott and David W. Zucker for Scott Free Productions, Alexandra Milchan and Scott Lambert for Emjag Productions, Guymon Casady (Entertainment 360), Stevens and Brooke Kennedy. Karyn Kusama also serves as executive producer and directs the first two episodes. The new season will premiere in 2025 on AMC and AMC+.

The first season of The Terror, which debuted on AMC in 2018 and focuses on a British naval expedition that gets stuck in the ice during the search for the Northwest Passage, became AMC+'s most-watched series ever in its first month after debuting on the streamer last fall. Season two, which originally launched in 2019 and chronicles the events of a Japanese internment camp during World War II, is currently streaming on AMC+.

Stevens recently wrapped production on the Netflix limited series Zero Day starring Robert De Niro. His previous roles include Matthew Crawley in ITV's Downton Abbey, David Haller in FX's Legion and John Dean in the Starz limited series Gaslit.
